“Good morning, I almost died yesterday, how are you?” you say.
“What? Wow, um, what happened?” she says.
“My gun exploded during training.”
“Why?!”
“Capacitor overcharge. Look, I’m all burned up.” You pull the collar of your dress aside enough to show where your shoulder is bandaged up.
“But...all the failsafes.”
“Yeah, good question.”
“I’m glad you didn’t die...” she says. “And...I’m fine I guess...I’m just not used to living here.”
“And how’s 5?” you say.
“5 is okay. But still acting weird. Weirder if anything... But that’s fine.”
Your elevator reaches the ground floor. You both hurry through the too many people going through the lobby and make it outside into the daylight.
“Where are you headed?” you say.
“Um... Evocation tower.”
“Oh, me too, I have Practical Arts.”
“Oh, then, we have that together,” she says.
